Len Goodman tries Nordic Walking!

NWUK Instructor Lisa Mallet was recently asked to offer Nordic Walking tasters at an event at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The event marked the launch of the YOUR PERSONAL BEST CAMPAIGN which is supported by Len Goodman and Arlene Phillips of ‘Strictly’ fame who joined in and had a go at Nordic Walking!

The campaign which was launched by Glaxo Smith Kline is aimed at helping the over 55s and those with long term health conditions to become more active. The emphasis is on working at your own pace and not letting age or ill health become barriers to having a go at gentle activity. Continue reading

Social Media workshop for Nordic Walking UK Instructors – 14th March 2012

Those of you who attended the Conference will remember a lively presentation by Marketing expert Jeni Cantle who gave a brief but fascinating insight into how to master tools like Facebook and twitter and use them to promote your sessions effectively. We are delighted to announce that Jeni has offerred to deliver some SOCIAL MEDIA workshops specifically for our Instructors. The first of these will be held in Milton Keynes on 14th March 2012. Funding from the Mayors Legacy helps London projects grow

NWUK have an exciting opportunity for anyone based in London who wants to train to become a Community Instructor, Full Instructor and or become Exercise Referral qualified.  We have been accepted as providers to a scheme that enable learners to get 75% of the training funded by the Mayors Legacy. The funding is designed to leave a lasting sporting legacy from the Olympics by training people to deliver activities into their community.  All that they ask is that in return the learner volunteers up to 25 hours (in total) of time to a project in one of the Boroughs. This is easily achieved and helps them to practice and develop their skills as Instructors.
